Building Excellence in History Teachers (BEHT) Project

The Department of Education Teaching American History Grant program has awarded a grant of $984,400 for 2007-2010 to the Irving Independent School District and CEGH, under the direction of Dr. Kelly McMichael to create in-service training for social studies teachers in grades 5, 8, and 11 in traditional American History paired with the pedagogical use of games in the classroom.

Texas Course Redesign Project, 2007-2008

Under the auspices of House Bill #1, The Texas Legislature awards Dr. Kelly McMichael at the University of North Texas a grant to redesign the United States History Survey to 1877 course and create course-ware that will be available freely throughout the state for Texas's colleges and universities.

A Proof-of-Concept Repository for Learning Objects Supporting the Reuse and Repurposing of Redesigned Courses and Their Content

TxCDK proposes to develop a proof-of-concept application of a learning object repository for THECB-funded redesigned course being created at UNT, U.S. History I, that will demonstrate how THECB can leverage the courses being developed through the Course Redesign Project by making the course content available for reuse and repurposing.
Texas Course Redesign, Phase III, 2007-2009:
CEGH at the University of North Texas with Texas A&M International University and Grayson College was awarded a grant through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to redesign the second half of the U.S. Survey (1877-present) for a paired delivery with Developmental Writing. Courseware will be available to institutions throughout the state for no charge.

Dual Credit Alignment Grant for U.S. History Survey I and II:
CEGH at the University of North Texas was awarded a grant by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to align the redesigned U.S. History I and II course for dual credit in Texas's high schools and public institutions. In addition to the content alignment, the CEGH will develop a model plan of distribution for the courseware, with emphasis on underprivileged and rural school districts.
