CEGH Goals

The Center for Educational Gaming has three primary goals in promoting the use of gaming in the classroom:

  • improving higher-level cognitive learning outcomes in students
  • improving student success and retention rates
  • increasing student motivation for learning

To achieve these goals, CEGH creates and supports the use of educational games that construct environments that bridge theory and application. CEGH games promote guided discovery within highly structured frameworks that result in open-ended learning experiences for students.

CEGH objectives include facilitating faculty who want to improve their students' higher-order cognitive thinking skills in the areas of critical and strategic thinking, decision-making, interpretative analysis, problem-solving, planning, execution, and delivery through the use of educational games.
